Russia and Iran have agreed to cancel customs duties on a reciprocal basis. The decision was announced by Kambiz Mirkazemi, a member of the Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
The duties will be lifted starting March 2024. Mirkazemi also announced that Iran would soon switch to settlements in national currencies with Russia, Armenia, and Belarus and would fully open its borders to imports from these states.
As it was previously reported, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is flying to Tehran for talks today, on October 23. This was confirmed by Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the ministry.
Also on October 23, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will pay an official visit to Iran. He will attend a meeting of the regional 3+3 platform, which suggests cooperation between Russia, Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia. Recently, the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced its withdrawal from this mechanism.
