A Ukrainian “sabotage and reconnaissance group” has entered the territory of the Belgorod region, according to a claim by governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. The Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the statement. Photos and videos of the saboteurs have appeared on Telegram channels and other social media.
“A sabotage and reconnaissance group of the [Armed Forces of Ukraine] entered the territory of the Grayvoronsky District. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, together with the Border Service, the Russian National Guard and the FSB are taking the necessary measures to eliminate the enemy. [Further] etails will be reported,” Gladkov wrote.
Gladkov also published another report about the attack, without specifying who committed it:
“A man and a woman with mine blast wounds were taken to the district hospital after the shelling of the village of Glotovo in the Grayvoronsky District. The woman is in intensive care in serious condition, while the man is in moderate condition. All necessary medical care is being provided.”
The “Russian Volunteer Corps” (“Rossiskiy Dobrovolchesky Korpus,” or RDK) had earlier claimed that its fighters had crossed the border between Russia and Ukraine, and published four short videos on Telegram. The videos depict men in military uniforms standing in front of several village signs in three different regions: Bezlyudovka in the Belgorod region, Churovichi in the Bryansk region, and Lyubimovka in the Kursk region. The fourth video shows no indication of the area, and depicts people in military uniform in a car, while a man behind the scenes shouts “RDK, onward!”
