Russia-appointed mayor of occupied Donetsk reports “biggest strike since 2014”

Alexey Kulemzin, whom Russia appointed “mayor” of occupied Donetsk, reported that at 7 a.m. on December 15, the center of the city had been targeted “in the biggest strike since 2014”. The Ukrainian side has not yet made any comments on the statements of pro-Russian authorities.

According to Kulemzin, the AFU fired 40 missiles from BM-21 «Grad” launchers. He also claims that six 155-mm shells were fired from Netailove and three from Orlivka.

Russian state-owned media agency RIA Novosti reports nine injured. Shellfire hit Bohdan Khmenytskiy Avenue, Universytetska Street, Shkilniy Boulevard, the vicinity of the Indoor Market, and Naberezhna Street. Social media feature images of burnt cars and damaged buildings.

Propagandist Telegram channels, including Military Columnist, which focuses on war coverage, claim that the dome of the Transfiguration Cathedral sustained damage as well.

Russian propagandist publication Komsomolskaya Pravda has released a video of the consequences of the strike.

Yesterday, on December 14, Russia launched a suicide drone attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv Region. According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian air defense shot down all of the 13 drones. On December 12, Russia carried out a Uragan strike on Horniak, Donetsk Region, injuring a total of eight people, according to the head of the Regional Military Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko. Before that, Russia shelled Ukrainian territory on December 8, including areas of the Donetsk Region.
