Over 1,000 bodies exhumed in recently liberated territories of Ukraine

A total of more than 1,000 bodies have been exhumed in the recently liberated territories of Ukraine, reported Oleh Kotenko, the country’s Commissioner for Persons Missing under Special Circumstances, on October 26.

He stressed that almost 450 bodies were found in Izyum – one of the largest mass graves was discovered there after the area was liberated from the Russian occupation. Civilians, including children, were among the dead, Kotenko said.

Mass graves of local residents have been found in almost every city liberated from the Russian occupation, as well as signs of genocide. For example, according to Ukrainian authorities, two mass graves have been discovered in Lyman: one contains close to 200 bodies, while the second numbers around 20. The first 20 bodies were exhumed from a mass grave in Lyman in early October, including the remains of a family with two young children.
