Russia fires missiles at Ukraine, hitting Lviv, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, and the Poltava, Kirovohrad, and Zhytomyr regions

Following the missile strike on Kyiv and Dnipro, explosions shook Ternopil, Lviv, and the Zhytomyr and Khmelnytskyi regions. Zhytomyr has gone into a complete blackout; electricity is also missing in individual districts of Kyiv, Lviv, and Ternopil. Kyiv has stopped the trains on one of its subway lines to use the stations as air-raid shelters.

According to Ukrainian media and the heads of regional military administrations, several attacks were launched on the Poltava and the Kirovohrad regions. Andriy Raikovych, the head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, reported a strike near Kropyvnytskyi, the regional administrative center.

Air defense systems have been fending off attacks on the Lviv Region, according to the head of the military administration Maksym Kozytskyy. Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovyi reported temporary interruptions of communication systems. City schools have switched to remote tuition. The electricity is down in a few districts. Later, Sadovyi informed that Lviv had suspended its CHP and cut the hot water supply, also launching backup power generators.

The strikes on Kyiv are ongoing. The Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko has reported damage to the buildings of the Philharmonic Hall, the Khanenko Museum, and the Taras Shevchenko Museum. Photos from eyewitnesses show that missiles have also damaged the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the eponymous park across the road.

Ukrainian media are also releasing the video of a missile strike on the pedestrian and cycling bridge across Saint Volodymyr Descent. Commonly known as the Klychko Bridge, the steel three-span beamed bridge, which was inaugurated in May 2019, stretches across 216 meters in the center of Kyiv.

The city of Zaporizhzhia also suffered a massive shelling strike on the night of October 10. As Oleksandr Starukh, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reports, around 10 missiles hit the city. A mid-rise residential building has been destroyed. So far, one death and five cases of injuries have been reported. One of the injured is a minor, informed Anatolii Kurtiev, the secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council. He also published photographs of the house damaged by the strike.

Kharkiv is in a blackout due to damage to critical infrastructure reports city mayor Ihor Terekhov.

Sumy has no water supply, with all water intake facilities on standby, according to Gorvodokanal, the local public utility provider.

Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, and Kyiv are also experiencing power supply interruptions due to missile strikes.
