Apartment building in Kyiv shelled

Illustration

Kyiv has come under rocket fire. A shell hit a nine-story apartment building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, and three upper floors were destroyed.

The explosions occurred around 6:30 a.m., and the air defense system shot down one missile.

At least one person died and two were hospitalized as a result of the shelling of an apartment building. Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said that a seven-year-old girl had been pulled out from under the rubble. Now rescuers are trying to pull her mother out: she was reportedly crushed by a concrete slab. According to Klitschko, there may still be people under the rubble.

The Strana UA newspaper notes that the missile target could have been the Artyom military plant, which is located nearby.
