French journalist Leclerc-Imhoff killed by Russian military in Luhansk Region

Evacuation has been halted in the Luhansk region: the Russian military fired on the armored vehicle that was supposed to pick up evacuees, killing the BFMTV journalist Frederic Leclerc-Imhoff. The news was reported by the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Sergei Haidai.

«An armored evacuation vehicle was on its way to pick up 10 people from the region and came under fire,» Haidai wrote. »Shell fragments pierced the vehicle's armor, and theaccredited French journalist who was covering the evacuation was fatally wounded in the neck; a patrol policeman was saved by his helmet. We are officially stopping the evacuation.»

On May 10, there were media reports on the death of Ukrainian journalist and blogger Oksana Gaidar (pseudonym Ruda Pani) and her mother Lydia during the Russian shelling of the village of Shevchenkovo, Brovary District, Kyiv Region.

On April 29, Radio Liberty journalist Vera Girich was killed in a missile attack on Kyiv. A Russian missile hit her house. In mid-April, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine reported that at least 20 journalists had been killed in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion and published a list of names. The list below includes only those whose deaths have been confirmed by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine:

One of the victims is Oksana Baulina, a journalist who worked for The Insider. She died under fire in Kyiv while carrying out an editorial assignment. Oksana was filming the destruction after Russian troops shelled the Podil district of the capital and was hit by rocket fire. Another civilian was killed in the attack (his name is not disclosed), two people accompanying her were wounded and hospitalized.
