Alexei Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation has published a list of Russian civil servants and public figures who, in the Foundation’s opinion, should be placed under sanctions for corruption and inciting the war in Ukraine.
The list features several categories: “War Arrangers”, “Propagandists”, “Corrupt Officials”, “Putin's Public Supporters”, “Sellout Celebrities”, “Senior Federal Officials”, and more
Vladimir Putin falls under the first category, along with 30 members of Russia’s Security Council and 101 high-ranking military officers from the Ministry of Defense.
The list of Russians proposed for placing under sanctions includes blogger Ksenia Sobchak, designer Artemy Lebedev, Russian Orthodox bishop Tikhon Shevkunov (also known as Putin's confessor), journalist Oleg Kashin, chess player Sergey Karjakin, actor Ivan Okhlobystin, TV hosts Tina Kandelaki, Dmitry Guberniev, and Nailya Asker-zade, bloggers Erik “Davidich” Kituashvili and Dmitry Puchkov.
“‘Sanctions on 6,000 people? Never happened before!’ one could say. Well, there has never been a war with Ukraine either, you know. Extreme times call for extreme solutions. We will ensure that all those responsible for this war will be held accountable,” wrote Navalny’s associate Leonid Volkov.
According to Ruslan Shaveddinov, a contributor to the list, publishing it is the first step to making sure everyone on it is placed under sanctions.
