Ukrainian attack on port terminals in Russia’s Krasnodar Region kills three, sets fuel storage tanks on fire

On the evening of Jan. 21, Ukrainian forces attacked port terminals in the village of Volna in the Temryuk District of Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region, according to a report from the local operational headquarters. Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said four tanks containing petroleum products caught fire. Three people were killed and eight others were wounded.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry’s morning briefing, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 14 Ukrainian drones overnight, including one over the Krasnodar Region.

The Telegram channel Supernova+ claimed that terminals operated by Tamanneftegaz JSC were targeted in the village of Volna. According to the channel, the strike occurred while petroleum products were being loaded onto a tanker.

The Tamanneftegaz port terminal in the Krasnodar Region was also attacked overnight on Dec. 31. On Dec. 22, a drone attack in the village of Volna damaged a pipeline at one of the terminals of the port of Taman after debris fell on the site.
