The State Duma Committee called for banning “propaganda of non-traditional relations” in Russia regardless of age

The State Duma Committee on Information Policy proposes a ban on “propaganda of non-traditional relations” in Russia without regard to age, deputy Alexander Khinstein said.

The law is expected to be considered in the fall. It proposes administrative responsibility for “propaganda” regardless of the age of the audience (offline, in the media, online, on social media, and in online movie theaters). The law also prohibits the dissemination among children of any information that demonstrates “non-traditional sexual relations.”

Earlier, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, sent the draft law to the relevant Duma Committee for review with the following explanatory note:

“Family, motherhood and childhood in their traditional sense shared by our ancestors are those values, which ensure continuous change of generations, act as a condition for preservation and development of multinational people of the Russian Federation, and therefore need special protection from the state”.

Currently only propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among minors is punishable.
