Russia’s Justice Ministry Adds Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights to Moscow’s ‘Undesirable’ List

The Russian Ministry of Justice has officially added the Poland-based Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (Helsińska Fundacja Praw Człowieka) to its registry of “undesirable” organizations. The designation follows a July decision by the Prosecutor General’s Office declaring the foundation “undesirable.”

The Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights focuses on protecting rights and freedoms in EU countries, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus region.

Earlier this month, the British-based International House World Organisation and the Georgian movement UnMode were also designated “undesirable.” In addition, the Prosecutor General’s Office banned the activities of the UK-registered NGO Zimin Foundation, established by Boris and Dmitry Zimin.
