Schoolchildren in the Arctic made to sew clothing for Russian troops in Ukraine after class

The Insider

The pupils of one of the schools in Labytnangi, a town in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in the Arctic Circle, are sewing clothes for Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine after their lessons, declared local mayor Marina Treskova.

In a post on social media network VK, Treskova wrote that 15 pupils from the 6th to the 10th grades at Labytnangi’s school № 3 were sewing under the guidance of their teacher, Snezhana Kanashova. The children are making clothes not only for those currently on the frontline, but also for the recently mobilized, who are waiting to be sent to the front in training centers.

The children are sewing balaclavas and warm jackets, according to Treskova. They have already made seven sets of clothes, and, as the mayor writes, “there are plans to increase the volume threefold.”

This is not the first time Russian schoolchildren have been involved in helping the military. After Vladimir Putin announced “partial mobilization” on September 21, schoolchildren in Penza were dismissed from their classes to prepare beds for the mobilized.
